No team has ever retain the Uefa Champions League trophy, but Real Madrid is ready to make an exception and Cristiano Ronaldo is playing an exceptional role to make it possible. The Portuguese star scored second successive Uefa Champions League hat-trick to lead his team 3-0 from the semifinal first leg against city rival Atletico Madrid.

Atletico Madrid must have thought that luck will be in their favour as they’ll go third time lucky, but it’s again Real who is ninety minutes away from knocking them out of the tournament for the fourth successive time. Los Colchoneros have defeated every major European teams to reach to this stage for the consecutive times, but they fail each time against their superior city rivals.

Once again, Los Blancos reminds them that they are the kings of Madrid, and Atletico should be happy with competing in league. Cristiano Ronaldo was once again brutal in Madrid derby this season as he scored his second hat-trick of the season against Atletico.

Ronaldo has only two goals to his name from group stages, but he returned fitter and meaner in knockout stages and finds the back of the net eight times in last three occasions. He is on verge of securing the Champions League top scorer third time in a row.

His first came in 10th minute of the game as he headed in Casemiro’s cross, and he bagged his 2nd & 3rd of the night in last quarter of the game. Atletico failed to keep their calm in later half of the game, after doing good defensive work for the 70 minutes. It felt like they have given up like 2014’s extra-time final, and Ronaldo was waiting for their sluggishness.

In 73rd minute, Ronaldo bagged his second of the night, but he wasn’t finished yet. The clock ticks 86th minute and he bags his hatrick to end Atletico’s road to Cardiff. No team has ever surpassed 2-0 scoreline in return leg at semifinal stage, and Atletico is up for the challenge to surpass 3-0 deficit at Vicente Calderon next Wednesday.

Atletico needs a miracle; meanwhile Cristiano is enjoying his best Champions League football and firing at crucial juncture of the tournament. A special player fires at special time, and Cristiano continues to prove he is still special.
