Uefa Champions League: Borussia Dortmund elimination against Monaco would be an injustice

Uefa gave a slap on terrors’ face rescheduling the suspended match between Borussia Dortmund and AS Monaco within 24 hours after Dortmund’s team suffered three explosive attack on their bus. And, Dortmund were brave to play the match in such an emotional set of mind, but players’ body languages were telling a different story. Dortmund’s fans should be also praised for their #bedforawayfans campaign, but it was an injustice as Monaco took advantage of their low point winning the game 3-2 at Westfalenstadion.

Dortmund impressed off field as a team and their fans impressed as football enthusiasts, but on the field, it was a sorry state of mind. But, it was Uefa who should be sorry to force Dortmund to play the match within 24 hours of attack on their players, and it would be an injustice if Dortmund gets eliminated against Monaco in Stade Louis II.

However, home side Monaco leads 3-2 playing at home in second leg, but we can’t rule out Dortund. They are a side who knows how to fight in adverse situation, and they’ll be strengthened by return of their captain Marco Reus. Borussia Dortmund’s club CEO Hans – Joachim Watzke very well said, “we aren’t dreamers. We know that the opportunity is not very big, but it is there.”

Monaco fans felt safe and home in such a chaos situation in Germany, and it is expected Dortmund’s fans get the same welcome. Their presence will make a huge difference at Stade Louis II, because their club needs the support of their fans in away match after Bus attack aftermath.

Sokratis Papastathopoulos will be key for Dortmund in defense as he made 17 tackles and scored a brilliant goal on Saturday against Eintracht, dedicating his performance to “Bartra and his family” – former Barcelona player who got injured in Bus attack. It shows his strong mentality and characteristics, and they needed these strong characters on Wednesday.

We cannot expect from Monaco to be feeling sorry for Dortmund’s loss, as they are a professional team. Kylian Mbappe and Radamel Falcao are the in-form player for the Principality club, and the Falcao latest performance against Digon FCO tells his state of mind. El Tigre is back to his best, but we’ll still back visiting team Dortmund. It will be an injustice if Dortmund gets eliminated against them.
