A day ago, Barcelona B team registered a 12-0 victory over Eldense club. It causes a storm on social media and you know the reason why. Barcelona senior team has failed to promote La Masia academy players into senior side recently, and it can be questioned, is famous La Masia academy is dying which has given the players like Messi, Xavi and Iniesta? The answer came right before you when you heard; Barcelona B team has created all time history to win a match 12-0. But, it surprised us more, when one of the Eldense player revealed the match was fix.
Eldense player Cheikh Saad has claimed four of his teammates were involved in a match fixing during 12-0 loss to Barcelona B. He explained to RAC1, “There were four players involved in match fixing. I don’t care what happens, but when I can, I’ll give the names of these players. In the dressing room I was on verge of coming to blows with these players,” as it was reported in Football Espana.
“Half an hour before the game, I was starting, but then they made us leave the lineup. They told a teammate this game is fixed and if he wanted to play he shouldn’t score goals. They didn’t ask me. The coach knew something, I’m sure, and the players too,” Saad added.
The coach told me to come on but I told him, I didn’t want to. I also told my teammates on the bench that they shouldn’t go out on to the pitch if they didn’t want their names to be stained.
“Were opponents involved? I don’t know, they did what they had to do – score goals.”
There is a catch in it. Although, Eldense has walk out from the remaining seasons due to the scandalous night they suffered, there can be question raised on Barcelona B team involvement in the fixing as well. We can’t get on any conclusions without investigation, but it might be Barcelona has used the occasion to improve their La Masia academy reputation.
Laliga President Javier Tabas has given ordered to investigate the match. ESPN reports as Tabas addressed the media,”We are going to look into it because the Eldense board has asked us to and the result at half-time was out of the ordinary. We are going to investigate because there are certain collateral issues with an Italian investment group that bears the hallmarks of the possible involvement of an international betting ring with a view to fix the match.”
