A billion dollar spending on a football star, it’s crazy. Yes indeed, but we are not far away from witnessing it. Peter Bosz – Borussia Dortmund manager yesterday told Bild, “I think we’ll experience a football player being transferred in a total package worth 1billion.”

Transfer market is getting crazy as every transfer window achieves a new height. This summer PSG become the heavy spenders with their 222 million spending on Neymar alone. If it wouldn’t have been financial fair play restrictions, they would have paid another 180 million for Kylian Mbappe. And if rumors to be believed in Spanish and English newspaper, Manchester City is plotting a 400 million bid for the services of five time Ballon d’or winner Lionel Messi.

Football transfer market is following India’s stock market

100million has become a norm for a good player and an emerging star with last season performance count can fetch his club even more than that. Last season, Paul Pogba fetched Juventus 100million, this season Neymar and Ousmane Dembele have already surpassed that transfer record.

And, half a dozen players are available to make a transfer within a range of 150 to 200million. Antoine Griezmann, Philippe Coutinho, Paulo Dybala, Kylian Mbappe, Eden Hazard, and Kevin De Bruyne can easily fetch this insurmountable amount to their existing clubs.

If we add the inflation and twenty percent growth rate every transfer window, 2020 summer transfer window can witness a 1billion dollar move. Lionel Messi can still fetch 400 million to Barcelona; Cristiano Ronaldo won’t bother to ask Real Madrid to find a suitor in the same price despite his age; and another star in the making, a future Ballon d’or is definitely going to be bid for 1billion.

Qatari owned rich clubs like PSG and Manchester City are hungry for success. The longer it will take them to win the Uefa Champions League, their desperation will rise and a billion dollar move will become a reality.

Two more season and Champions League not under their belt, they will push for every limit. Chinese owned both Milan clubs will join the competition and shortages of rare talent will force a club to pay 1billion for the future star.

Real Madrid won’t be able to bear someone else taking pride in hiring Galacticos, and they’ll join the force as well. It’s a great opportunity for clubs with superior development facilities to produce home grown players and nurture them to make future stars.

A billion dollar baby is already under the process. There are players who are in contract with clubs even they haven’t reached their eighteenth birthday. Two or three years of top flight football can make them world class footballer and the age of 21 they’ll rule the world. A club won’t mind paying 1billion bill for his 10 years of service at such a tender age and it will be just a beginning.
