PSG cruised past Monaco 5-0 in Coupe de France semifinal ending their domestic double dream

AS Monaco may be flourishing in Europe and on their way to end Paris Saint-Germain dominance in Ligue 1, but Parisians are still giving them a hard look in other title race. PSG already thrashed Monaco 4-1 in Coupe de La Ligue final at the start of April to clinch their first title of 2016/17 season, marched ahead in Coupe de France as well eliminating the Principality Club in semifinal. PSG cruised past Monaco 5-0 in Coupe de France semifinal to end Champions League semifinalists’ domestic double dreams.

Monaco’s Coach Leonardo Jardim who complained about his team lack of experience in Coupe de La Ligue final defeat, made some strange chances for Coupe de France semifinal. He rested his key players giving more importance to their upcoming Uefa Champions League fixture against Juventus next month.

PSG sensed the opportunity to hit back second time in the month, and they humiliated once again the league leader taking away the chances of second domestic trophy. Julian Draxler once again opened the scoring for the Parisians in 26th minute and renewed Cavani made it 2-0 five minutes later.

Jardim didn’t learn from his mistake in Coupe de La Ligue final and gave debut to 20-year-old Safwan Mbae. The night didn’t go well for Mbae and he put a ball in his own net to make it 3-0 for the home side. Blaise Matuidi also finds himself on the scoresheet from Angel Di Maria assist and Marquinhos complete the routing with his goal in last minute of the game.

Angel Di Maria was once again at the center of everything PSG did into the match. It was Di Maria’s shot which forced De Sanctics to fumble, and Cavani was quick to set up Draxler in rebound to open the scoring. PSG second goal also come from Di Maria low cross, which Cavani strikes into the far corner of the net. He didn’t end here, he also assisted Matuidi twice, once he hit the post before the break and second time he scored after the break.

Unai Emery’s side once again looks to be complete the domestic treble as they entered into the final of Coupe de France to face Angers who defeated Guingamp 2-0 to reach into the final. They have already won the Coupe de La Ligue, they are into Coupe de France final, and they share the equal points in Ligue 1 table with Monaco, it gives them hope of another domestic treble.
