Barcelona lose no ground at top with the help of Luis Suarez’s double

Barcelona kept the pressure on Valencia before top of the table clash on matchday 13

Barcelona registered a hard fought 3-0 victory over Leganes with the help of Luis Suarez double and Paulinho late strike. It stretches Blaugranas undefeated run to 17 matches as they finish at top of the table with seven points gap before Valencia play its game against Espanyol.

It kept the pressure on Valencia before the top of the table clash on matchday 13 at Mestalla. Barcelona will continue to occupy the top spot if they lose against Valencia in top of the table clash next week. On the other hand, Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid played a stalwart 0-0 draw at Wanda Metropolitano to ease the pressure off Valencia and Barcelona.

Luis Suarez emerged as hero of the match as Uruguayan delivered a double to end his five match goal drought. He was at right place at right time to capitalize on Leganes’ goalkeeper errors. Ivan cellular limply palmed Paco Alcacer’s cross into the path of the Suarez and he didn’t need another invitation to end his drought.

Suarez second was also an easy finish as he put the ball into the net in rebound after Alcacer’s effort was drilled away. It could have been a hat-trick for the Uruguayan if his 4th minute strike wouldn’t have been adjudged offside.

Despite Barcelona 3-0 victory, Leganes impressed the La Liga giant on counter-attack. Nordin Ambrabat kept the Barcelona defence busy over the evening as he earned Gerard Pique a yellow to face suspension against Valencia in top of the table clash.

Ambrabat tries his best to fight for Leganes, but his efforts didn’t turn up into a goal. Barcelona goalkeeper Andre Ter Stegen was also his best on the day when Leganes needed a little luck. He saved Alexander Szymanowski curling effort from point balnk range before Claudio Beauvue fired straight to him.

Paulinho came as a substitute in second half for Barcelona grabbed the third of the night to earn a comfortable 3-0 victory. It’s now all on Barcelona to continue their 17 game undefeated run when they’ll visit Mestalla on matchday 13.
