Edinson Cavani extends his contract with PSG until 2020

Edinson Cavani is the only no.9 who has flourished this season among goals. No other player has matched the goal-scoring spree of PSG’s no.9 this season, and it earned him a contract extension with the Parisians. Cavani current contract with the club was due to expire at the end of next season, but he has extended his stay in Paris for two more seasons until 30 June 2020.

Cavani joined Paris Saint-Germain Club in the summer of 2013 and since then has become their most prolific goal scorer. He has 125 goals to his name in 192 official games. His current season tally for the Parisian club is 44 goals from 44 appearances and only three behind Europe’s most goal scorer Lionel Messi who has 47 to his name from 46 appearances.

The 30-year-old Uruguayan player has won 11 trophies during his stay at the club and many mores is still to come with his presence at Parc des Princes. He was there since 2013, but he came only in limelight this season as he started to play in his more natural role as centre forward.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic departure to Manchester United comes as a blessing for him. He never had scored 20 goals in a season for PSG before, but this season he is competing with the best, and only 3 goals behind the Barcelona no.10 Lionel Messi.

As I have always stated, it was always my clear intention to continue playing for Paris, its supporters and all the staff at the club to make it one of the biggest clubs in the world. I am convinced that the club has the potential to attain all its objectives. Together, we will be more and more ambitious in the coming seasons,” reports PSG club official website.
