Sampdoria continues to impress in Serie A with their home run as they defeated Serie A holder Juventus 3-2 at Stadio Luigi Ferraris. Juventus needed all three points from the game to put pressure on leader Napoli who defeated AC Milan 2-1 to extend four points lead, but Bianconeri were outplayed by in-form Sampdoria and loses all three points.

Juventus had a bright start in the game and they continuously tested Sampdoria’s defence, but failed to find the net. Gonzalo Higuain, Fabio Quagliarella, Mario Mandzukic, and Juan Cuadrado all tested Sampdoria’s goalkeeper Emiliano Viviano and he had enough luck to parry their efforts.

It was Sampdoria’s day as they find the net the thrice in regulation time during second-half. Bernardeschi was the culprit as Juve conceded their first goal. He failed to control Fabio Quagliarella’s cross with his acrobatic effort and the ball looped into the air only for Duvan Zapata to steer it in far corner with his headed effort.

Lucas Torreira doubles the lead for Sampdoria with his far bottom corner finish, and Gian Marco Ferrari makes it 3-0 for them eight minutes later. Juventus were on verge on suffering a huge defeat, but Gonzalo Higuain and Paulo Dybala finds some solace for the 33 time Serie A winners with their injury time efforts.

Higuain converted from the penalty spot in injury-time, whereas Dybala scored in his style at the last gasp to make scoreline more comfortable. Juventus didn’t start with their star players as they gave rest to Gigi Buffona and Andrea Barzagli as the duo opted for rest after their international retirement. The duo ended their international career as Italy loses to Sweden in World Cup qualifying playoff.

Juventus defeat gives Roma and Inter Milan to move forward on points table with their respective victory over Lazio and Atlanta.
